El nacimiento del río más importante de Andalucía se produce en una zona de gran valor ecológico dentro Parque Natural. Unos cien metros más arriba está la casa forestal de la Cañada de las Fuentes donde hay una zona recreativa a la que acuden con frecuencia gamos y ciervos en pequeños grupos.
