El pueblo de Cazorla es uno de los más bonitos y pintorescos de la geografía española. Situado en el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas es un lugar único donde desconectar de la rutina.
Anteriormente hablamos de 10 cosas que ver en Cazorla y una de ellas era la bóveda del río Cerezuelo. Hoy queremos contarte todo lo que debes saber sobre este singular lugar que no debes perderte si visitas Cazorla.
Bóveda del río Cerezuelo, qué ver en Cazorla
Cazorla, es un municipio situado en pleno Parque Natural de las Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas, en Jaén. Castillos, iglesias, rutas por la naturaleza, actividades de aventura, gastronomía y cultura hacen de Cazorla el enclave ideal para disfrutar del turismo rural.
Se encuentra ubicado en las márgenes del río Cerezuelo, bajo la mirada del imponente castillo de la Yedra. Este castillo, ubicado sobre el cerro de Salvatierra, es de arquitectura gótica, si bien su origen es musulmán.
Las casas son de arquitectura tradicional, donde se combinan la luminosidad del blanco de sus muros con el uso de la madera oscura de la zona. Cazorla fue importante en época musulmana, pero será durante el Renacimiento cuando llegue su esplendor. Sobre todo, con el nombramiento de don Francisco de los Cobos, secretario de Carlos V, como adelantado de Cazorla.
Fue él quien quiso que se construyera un templo justo sobre el cauce del río, la iglesia de Santa María. Contó con uno de los mejores arquitectos del momento Andrés de Vandelvira, artífice de una reforma urbanística de dimensiones colosales. Comenzó encauzando el río Cerezuelo, después construyó una diáfana plaza y un templo colosal que, desgraciadamente, nunca se terminó.
Paseo bajo la bóveda del río Cerezuelo de Cazorla
Realizada por Andrés de Vandelvira, esta bóveda consta de aproximadamente 120 metros de largo y se extiende desde el inicio de la plaza de Santa María hasta el muro de cabecera del templo. Un lugar construido sobre 1536 y muy visitado por todo el que pasa por Cazorla.
Para visitarla pasa antes por la Oficina de Turismo de Cazorla, ubicada en la torre de la iglesia de Santa María. Allí podrás adquirir la entrada que da derecho a visita guiada por la bóveda, además podrás subir a la torre de la iglesia donde disfrutar de unas vistas increíbles de todo el pueblo de Cazorla y alrededores.
A la bóveda del río Cerezuelo se accede por unas escaleras metálicas que traspasan un muro de vegetación, tras el que se oculta la imponente bóveda de medio punto que sorprende tanto por sus dimensiones como por su realización.
Durante el paseo bajo la bóveda, podrás disfrutar del discurrir del río y de lo impresionante de esta construcción. Además, verás una escultura en madera de la Tragantía, protagonista de una de las leyendas de Cazorla.
