Nacimiento del Río Guadalquivir, Casas Cueva Cazorla
El nacimiento del río Guadaliquivir, el gran río andaluz que nace en la provincia de Jaén, discurre por Córdoba y Sevilla, y finalmente desemboca en la provincia de Cádiz. Su nacimiento es uno de los puntos característicos que debes visitar si te encuentras en la Sierra de Cazorla.
El nacimiento “oficial” del Río Guadalquivir se ha situado bajo una placa que reproduce un poema de los hermanos Álvarez Quintero. Pero, en sentido estricto, las fuentes del Guadalquivir se encuentran en la espaciosa hondonada de la Cañada de las Fuentes, a 1.350 metros de altitud.

nace el que es y será rey de los ríos,
entre pinos gigantes y bravíos,
que arrullan su nacer y ásperas breñas.
El reflejo otro tiempo las enseñas,
las armas, los corceles y atavíos
de razas imperiosas, cuyos bríos
postráronse en sus márgenes risueñas
ensancha entre olivos y trigales,
y al mar corre a rendirle sus cristales.
Mas coma lleva sal de Andalucía,
sus aguas vuelve a las del mar iguales,
para llegar mas lejos todavía…
En este lugar confluyen varios arroyos que descienden de las montañas cercanas: el de los Teatinos, el de la Juan Fría o el arroyo de la Luz entre otros. Un lugar fresco y agradable con curiosas formaciones geológicas y con densos pinares de laricio y negral, donde fresnos, arces y majuelos acompañan al río.
En este lugar confluyen varios arroyos que descienden de las montañas cercanas: el de los Teatinos, el de la Juan Fría o el arroyo de la Luz entre otros. Un lugar fresco y agradable con curiosas formaciones geológicas y con densos pinares de laricio y negral, donde fresnos, arces y majuelos acompañan al río.
Además, a solo 1 kilómetro del nacimiento del río Guadalquivir, encontramos el Valle de los Tejos Milenarios. Un singular rincón de excepcional belleza donde encontrarás magníficos ejemplares de Tejo (Taxus Baccata), algunos de ellos superando los mil años de antigüedad y convirtiéndose en los árboles mas antiguos de Europa.

Subida al pico Cabañas, a cuyo pie se encuentra una pista forestal en aceptable estado, de diez kilómetros aproximadamente. Siguiendo la pista que va hacia Pozo Alcón desde el nacimiento llegamos, tras 2,5 km, al pino de las tres cruces. Aquí comienza la pista que sube a este soberbio mirador de la Sierra del Pozo.
Pasear junto al barranco de la Cañada de la Fuente. A un kilómetro aproximadamente de la casa forestal del mismo nombre, empieza un camino a la derecha rodeado de majuelos y arces, con algunos de los ejemplares más grandes de pino laricio del Parque. En el camino es fácil observar gamos, incluso muflones en el lapiaz de la derecha, así como milenarios tejos
Continuar dos kilómetros por la pista que sube hacia Pozo Alcón y, 300 metros antes del pino de las tres cruces, tomar el camino de la izquierda que va a los Prados de Navahondona.

Si has llegado al nacimiento en coche o moto continúa un poco más adelante hasta el Área Recreativa Cañada de las Fuentes. Podrás aparcar con mayor facilidad y si lo deseas dispones de una zona habilitada para comer mientras visitas el lugar.
